September 10, 2006 Update

Dear Parents,

Wow, what a fantastic first week of school!! The staff and I can't say enough about how great the new classrooms are for learning. The room size, the cork floors, the cabinets, the bathrooms, the layout, lighting ... everything is as close to perfect as any educator could ask for. From all of us a huge thank you!

The children are enjoying the feel of the new campus as well. Each day I see ear-to-ear grins. From morning meetings through music and Spanish to reading and reflection, from the youngest preschool student to the oldest Navigator, those grins seem to last all day long :-)

A few quick notes about Swan happenings (these are likely repeats from Flossie so I won't go into too much detail here):

  • Parents' meeting this Tuesday from 6:00-7:00 with pizza at 5:30. We will cover a number of topics, meet our new Spanish and music teachers, and take a tour of the campus.
  • Don't forget, our annual Salt Creek campout is scheduled for the 22nd and 23rd, "be there or be square." :-)
  • The Navigators will be going to the Olympic Park Institute (O.P.I.) on the 27th through 29th of September this year. Be sure to contact Lowell if you have any questions (more information will be coming out about this soon).
  • On the 30th the grounds committee will be having a landscaping party from 11 until 2:00. Please contact Lisa Crosby if you can lend a hand.
  • This month's board meeting will likely change from the 21st to the 20th.

Well, I've got to get going... I just wanted to let you know how wonderful it is to be a Swan School educator, by far the best elementary school anyone could ask for :-)
