Hi Parents,
It was so nice to see everyone at the concert last week-- the kids sounded great! Thank you to everyone who brought food, helped with setup, helped clean up, and toted keyboards and marimbas. With everyone's help the whole event went very smoothly. Please give a special thanks to all the music teachers who worked extra hours getting the kids ready to put on such a great performance!
And now, this week's news...
SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDERS DUE
Book orders are due this Friday, Feb.1. Make checks payable to Scholastic Books and place your order in the wire basket by the copy machine.
COFFEE HOUR FRIDAY
Stay for coffee Friday morning-- it's a great chance to visit with other parents and chat with the board.
PLANT-A-THON UPDATE
Thanks to all who who signed up for the final slots on the job list sent last week-- we now need 3 "Food Prep Helpers" for Friday, Feb 8 (9-2ish) at Dundee Hill Community Center (located at the North end of Hancock Street). This will be a fun job: making 2 kinds of soup for 180 people with former co-owner of the Ajax Caf, Eileen Steimle. Volunteers should contact Eileen at steimle44@hotmail.com or 379-9109.
You will have instructions and a supply list in your hanging folders on Friday afternoon-- this should have everything you need to know for the big day!
Tree card sales are still moving along-- we've sold 823 trees for a total of $4115 so far. Our total goal is $6000-- please help sell our last cards! We have extras in the office if you've sold all yours. What better Valentine could you give than a tree in someone's name?
LEARNER EXPO 2/12
Mark your calendars for the first Learner Expo of the year, coming up on our regularly scheduled parent meeting night, Tuesday, February 12. The Expo will run from 5pm to 6:30pm. We'll have more information for you next week.
ICE SKATING FIELD TRIP 2/15
Our annual all-school ice-skating trip to Bremerton is coming up on Friday, February 15 (last day before Winter Break begins) and we'll need drivers. Please sign up in the office. If you know ahead of time your child(ren) will not be attending, please let us know. Discoverers are welcome, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
KEEP CONTACT INFORMATION UP-TO-DATE
Please remember to contact the office if your address, phone number, cell phone number or email address changes-- it's important for us to be able to contact you in the event of an emergency.
"STARS OF TOMORROW" TALENT SHOW APPLICATIONS
Children and parents interested in the city wide youth talent show may pick up an application in our office. Details regarding this annual event should be available on the application. The deadline for submitting is Feb. 15th. Let's see some of our talented Swan students try out for the show.
FLOSSIE'S BACK
I had a wonderful break but it is great to be back and seeing all your faces again. Many thanks to Carrie and Sienna for their capable help while I was away.
