May 11, 2008 Update
Dear Swan School Parents,
I woke fairly early this morning and decided to get up and enjoy the quiet of the new day. The rain was gently pattering on the window and my first cup of coffee was spent admiring the spring flowers and watching the birch trees in my front yard grow. As the rain let up and the sun peeked through, I felt that the bird songs became happier, the lawn looked a bit greener, and the bushes perkier. It was as if nature was performing a quiet dance that I was honored to be able to watch.
As the morning grew slowly older and the neighborhood began to wake up, I reflected on the past week at Swan. What a busy, crazy, wonderful time it was! Each day had been filled with happy energy and enthusiasm while we raced to accomplish everything that had to be done. Amidst all of the frenzy however was the warmth that was felt as first students and then parents shared their kind thoughts and absolutely delicious treats with the faculty. I know that each staff member not only felt very appreciated but also happy that they could be a part of the family that we have all grown to hold so close. The role we each play - students, board members, parents, administrative staff, and teachers Ð when blended together is like a dance that is so well executed that it is simply beautiful to behold.
I guess that it is somewhat like my yard at home, the flowers, trees, and bushes couldn't thrive quite so well without my care. And I wouldn't feel nearly so happy or content without the natural embrace that the yard repays me with all year long.
On behalf of all the staff, thank you very much for your trust, your thoughtfulness, and your warmth ...and let's all keep dancing :-)
Russ
