Hi all,

RETURN TREE CARDS
So many of you are doing a fabulous job selling extra cards that we're running low on cards in the office. Please return any cards today or tomorrow that you know you won't be able to sell; we'd like to get a sense of how many are still unsold, and we'd like to have some available to sell at the Farmer's Market this weekend (spaces are still available to sell at the market-- just 2 weeks left!). Also, please turn in the money from your card sales as soon as possible.

BOOK EXCHANGE
All of your kids should have someone else's book exchange wish list now; please see me in the office if you've misplaced it-- I have copies. Books are due back to the office by Wednesday next week, to be ready for the exchange on Friday. Books should be wrapped and indicate both who the book is to AND from.

SIGN UP FOR ART NEXT WEEK
If you would like to have your kids in art after school next Tuesday or Thursday, please sign up in the office (or send me an email) ASAP. Diane would like to know in advance if your kids will be attending!

MATCHING GRANT
Thanks to a couple of generous donations, we are now almost halfway to meeting our $7500 matching grant challenge! However, the clock is ticking and we have just 21 days left to meet the deadline. If you or a friend or family member is considering a year-end tax deductible donation, please keep Swan School in mind! There is an extra "Ask" letter in your child's hanging folder for you to send to a possible donor.

STACEY'S LAST DAY
Our PE teacher and former Navigators' aide, Stacey Larsen Stafki, will not be returning after the winter break, due to unfortunate schedule conflicts. This is Stacey's 3rd year at Swan and we will miss her! Thursday will be her last day-- please be sure and thank her for her years with us! Our flexible and enthusiastic Discoverers' aide, Michelle Peters, will pick up teaching PE after the break.

FACEBOOK PAGE
We now have an easy-to-use Facebook address: http://www.facebook.com/swanschool Please take a look and become a fan-- it's an easy way to share information about Swan School, to sell tree cards, and to be in touch with Swan Alumni. Help spread the word!

SNOW DAYS
With the freezing temperatures and hint of snow in the forecast, it seems timely to remind you about our snow day procedure: In the event of a school closure, we will activate our One Call Now notification system. A call will be made by 8 am to all of the contact numbers we have on record for you, and you will hear a recorded message providing you with our status-- late start, no school, etc. We will also pass that information on to KIRO 7 and KING 5, send out an email, and update the message on our school answering machine. While we usually cancel school if the public school district does, that is not always the case, so please don't assume there is or is not school based on the PTSD decision.

CALENDAR ITEMS
Next Friday, December 18, is our last day before break, and we will have a 12:30 dismissal that day. Our first day back will be Monday, January 4. That's 2010!
